The Emir of Muri Empire, Abbas Tafida, issued a 30- day ultimatum to herdsmen in the state to quit the forest, causing palpable dread in some regions of Taraba State.
The Emir issued the ultimatum after Eid prayers on Tuesday, claiming that the headers have been frightening state people.
He bemoaned the fact that herders who had been welcomed into the state were now abducting, killing, and r@ping his people.
" Our Fulani herdsmen in the forests, you came into this state and we accepted you, so why are you coming to towns and villages to kidnap residents, even r@ping our women? "
" Because of this never- ending threat, every Fulani herder in this state has been given a 30- day deadline to leave the woodlands.
" We are weary of having sleepless nights, and the hunger in the country is immense, and we will not allow it to continue, " the Emir stated.
Farmers, who have clashed with herders multiple times over crop devastation, make up the majority of the state' s population.
Don' t forget that Sunday Igboho, an Ibadan- based politician and youth leader, also gave the Fulani community in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, a seven- day ultimatum over allegations that they are responsible for increased violence and kidnapping in the area.
The popular man gave his resignation notice when he took a group of youngsters to Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir, the Sarkin Fulani of Oyo State, to express their discontent with the recent deaths in the axis.
Suspected herdsmen assassinated several notable residents of the town recently. Kidnappings have also increased in the area.
Igboho, the leader of the teenagers who set fire to the town' s abandoned cow market, blamed the Fulani for the criminality in the area.
Igboho informed Sarkin Fulani in a video that went viral on social media that he offered them (Fulani herders) seven days to leave the region or he would deal with them.
Igboho has been arrested by Interpol in Benin republic after DSS dreadfully raided his home and killed his men. Nigeria' s government declared him wanted and also placed him on the shot- list after seizing his international passports.
Now that a prominent Northern traditional ruler has done the same thing Sunday Igboho did that through him into serious trouble, will President Buhari arrest this traditional ruler too?
